Description

Instant Gravitea 15 August 2007 – 14 August 2008. Video of green tea on 365 sheets of A4 paper, 12:34 mins.

Inspired by an accidental drop of a teabag, Instant Gravitea was generated by a formal repetition of this unplanned act, every morning for a whole year. The resulting 365 sheets of paper were scanned and morphed chronologically so that the daily splashes merged to a pulsating rhythm.

The repetition of these accidents, mishaps or failures makes it possible to experience them in a new context. It was Miles Davis who said that when you repeat a wrong note it is not wrong anymore.

The daily teabag plunge materialises the subtle and not so subtle variations in the course of a year through a repeated act of chance.
