Vertical Silver utilizes records discarded to the discount bins. Over time their relevance and their value have declined, the way of most things in the world. By categorizing, assembling and overlaying the sleeves with a pattern of reflective stripes, the single sleeves have not only become absorbed into a larger entity, they have also been re-purposed to participate in a different conversation. The reflective tape helps to unify the assemblage while at the same time generating visual interruptions and unfamiliar connections that make it possible to perceive the covers in a new way – to appreciate their beauty and their folly.
